e-learning

book stack and mouseE-learning can be an important part of any professional’s continuing education and can be a manageable and effective way to add to your CPD Now portfolio. The College is committed to providing members with as wide a range of high quality e-learning resources as possible and all of the programmes you can access through this section have been awarded CPD Now accreditation.

E-learning has many advantages – it can be flexible, so you can undertake the work at a pace and at times that suit you. You can access your learning from a variety of locations and there are no travel costs. Most programmes are licensed for a reasonable period – this will vary depending on the particular programme – allowing you to complete and revisit your learning at a time to suit you.

The development costs for e-learning programmes are high. For this reason, most of the programmes offered do require payment. All of the programmes in this section have been selected to represent good value for money and the costs compare very favourably with those of attending a study day, for example. Of course, you don’t get the networking and discussion opportunities that a study day or other attendance-based programme offers and for this reason the College recommends that you should aim to attend one such event a year, if you possibly can. You can check the pages of your regional committee or national council to see what is available locally, as well as the College’s conference and events programme.

Please bear in mind that the College has engaged with a number of providers to bring you a range of e-learning and that costs and conditions will vary accordingly. You should understand that apparent anomalies in provision (such as the free provision of the e-Learning for Healthcare range of programmes to members working in the NHS only) are entirely beyond the College’s control, although we always do everything we can to give all members the best deal possible.
