The Society of Radiographers has launched two calls for expressions of interest around projects related to enhanced practice and advancing practice.

As part of projects into these areas, the Society is looking for individuals or consortiums from the UK to support its existing work.

National scoping study and gap analysis in relation to enhanced, advanced and consultant-level practice

As part of the first project, the SoR has put out a call for expressions of interest for a national scoping study and gap analysis of radiography education provision and clinical service need in relation to enhanced, advanced and consultant level practice.

Outcomes from the scoping project will be used to inform the College of Radiographers (CoR) work relating to postgraduate programme approval and professional body guidance around enhanced and advanced level education. The findings will also support the implementation of the recently published CoR Education and Career Framework.

This project will support the separately-funded socialisation project relating to the enhanced clinical practitioner apprenticeship curriculum and schema. Collaboration is expected between project teams, where both projects may be awarded to differing parties.

The SoR will consider expressions of interest up to a total of £60,000 (Exc. VAT), to include diagnostic and therapeutic radiography, which demonstrate good value for money and appropriate use of funding.

Enhanced, advanced and consultant level practice project overview

Project title: National scoping study and gap analysis of radiography education provision and clinical service need relation to enhanced, advanced and consultant level practice.

Project aim: Identify challenges, expectations and opportunities within radiography post registration education to meet current and future clinical service need.

Objectives:

  1. Scope current and future service need in clinical radiography (diagnostic and therapeutic radiography) relating to enhanced, advanced and consultant level practice.
  2. Scope current national post registration education, including recognition of prior learning, for enhanced, advanced and consultant level practice in radiography.
  3. Determine future business development plans across regions relating to enhanced, advanced and doctoral-level education.
  4. Identify gaps between service need and current and future education provision in the radiography post registration arena.
  5. Provide a final summary report of the findings: to include gap analysis, identification of challenges, expectations and opportunities within radiography post registration education to meet current and future clinical service need in enhanced, advanced and consultant level practice.

Suggested deliverables:

  • Provide a final summary report of the findings, identifying challenges, expectations and opportunities within radiography post-registration education to meet current and future clinical service need in enhanced, advanced and consultant level practice.
  • Other suggestions welcomed.

Project timeline: May 2024 – March 2025

Please provide a summary document of no more than two A4 pages, to outline the following:

  • Relevant experience in relation to enhanced/advanced/consultant level education and practice in radiography
  • Proposed methodology
  • Suggested other deliverables
  • Required resources, project team, and costings
  • Project overview timeline

Please email expressions of interest to [email protected] by midday Monday 15 April, 2024.

Implementation of enhanced-level practice in radiography

Following the publication of the College of Radiographers (CoR) Education and Career Framework (ECF), the Society of Radiographers wishes to support and promote the implementation of enhanced-level practice in radiography. The scope of this work will also include socialisation of the NHS England Enhanced Clinical Practitioner (ECP) Apprenticeship Schema.

This work will support a separately-funded scoping project of radiography education provision and clinical service need in enhanced, advanced and consultant level (diagnostic and therapeutic radiography) practice. Collaboration is expected between project teams, where both projects may be awarded to differing parties.

Expressions of interest are therefore encouraged from individuals or a consortium from within the UK that have demonstrable evidence and experience of work within this field.

The Society will consider expressions of interest up to a total of £30,000 (Exc. VAT), which demonstrates good value for money and appropriate use of funding.
