Education and accreditation
The Approval and Accreditation Board of the Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR) was established in September 2004 to oversee all the approval and accreditation activity undertaken by the organisation. This has given the College of Radiographers the opportunity to develop a comprehensive framework within which education, professional development and learning departments may gain professional body recognition, leading to accreditation of both individuals and departments.
SCoR were already accrediting education programmes, but separate arrangements existed for programmes leading to accreditation as a registered practitioner (which were undertaken jointly with the Radiographers Board at the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM) and then the Health Professions Council (HPC)) and other programmes and courses.
The College of Radiographers has published the following Policy and Guidance Documents:
"The Approval and Accreditation of Education Programmes and Professional Practice in Radiography; Policy and Principles" in May 2004
The Approval and Accreditation of Education Programmes and Professional Practice in Radiography: Guidance on Implementation of Policy and Principles in October 2004
Guidance on Approval & Accreditation of Practice Placements at all levels of Pre-registration Education in June 2005
The Approval & Accreditation of Educational Programmes and Professional Practice: Practice Educators Accreditation Scheme in June 2006
