Philips and GE Healthcare both offer Fellowship Awards for individuals who wish to study abroad. These fellowships are awarded through the British Institute of Radiology.
The BIR welcomes applications from Radiographers and Technologists who are based in the UK, as well as other professions within imaging/Nuclear Medicine.

The Wellcome Trust is an independent charity funding research to improve human and animal health. Established in 1936 and with an endowment of about £11 billion, it is the UKs largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research.
The Health Foundation believes that leadership is central to improving the quality of healthcare. Currently they offer numerous award schemes which provide personalised coaching and development.
The Health Foundation Leadership Fellows
This award scheme aims to support individuals who have the potential to make an outstanding contribution to improving the quality of healthcare in the UK.
The scheme spans a period of 22 months and successful applicants should expect to allocate a minimum of two days per month to the scheme.
The next round of applications is May 2007
This award scheme aims to equip healthcare professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to lead change projects that improve the quality ofd local healthcare services.
The scheme is part-time over 14 months. The next round of applications will be early 2007.
Harkness/Health Foundation Fellowships in Healthcare Policy
Run in partnership with the Commonwealth Fund of New York the fellowships offer a unique opportunity for a paid sabbatical in the USA. These fellowships are targeted at experienced healthcare professionals who have an existing interest in health systems, policy making or policy related research.
The next round of applications for these fellowships will open in Spring 2007.
The National Coordinating Centre for Research Capacity Development (NCCRCD)
Funded by the Department of Health as one of its national programmes the Research Capacity Development (RCD) Programme makes research training awards to individuals who show the potential to become leaders in their particular field and whose research is people or patient-focussed and relevant to the NHS.
The NCCRCD has personal award schemes at three levels: The Research Development Award leading to a PhD, Post-Doctoral Award or Career Scientist Award.

The Higher Education Funding Council
The strategic aim of the Higher Education Funding Council for England is to develop and sustain an internationally competitive research sector that makes a major contribution to economic prosperity, national well being and the expansion and dissemination of knowledge. HEFCE provides funding to support research.
The Lancet - International Fellowships
Two International Exchange Fellowships are available to be taken during 2007. Applicants should be aiming to work in a country with a different approach to healthcare delivery, research priorities, or education facilities, to their own.
The fellowship is for a maximum of six months with £25,000 per fellowship available.
Medical Research Council (MRC)
The Medical Research Council (MRC) has updated its fellowship schemes and now list almost 40 different award categories.

The Picker Awards for Excellence
The Picker Institute is an independent, not-for-profit organisation
dedicated to the identification and promotion of best practices which
