Barbara Flanagan is the 2009 Rep of the Year

An industrial relations' representative from Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth has carried off this year's UK Rep of the Year award.
Sponsored by Thompsons Solicitors, it is the second year that the annual accolades for SoR reps have been held. Eight regions and countries put forward nominees.
Barbara Flanagan has been an IR rep at Bronglais since 1992. Her colleagues in the department provided an extensive list of achievements when they nominated her for the award that includes liaising with management over linked grade procedures, ensuring the working time directive is followed, and that her department was one of the first in Wales to implement Annex T of the Agenda for Change agreement.
"She is very dedicated and ensures fairness for all staff," said Diane Hughes, who put forward Barbara for the award.
"Barbara takes on big battles with the management, a bit like a little terrier and does not let go until she has achieved the best deal for her members.
