It is a special occasion when more than one hundred radiographers and other healthcare professionals from across the United Kingdom crowd into a room in the House of Commons to celebrate the best of the profession.

There are tears and laughter and many glowing faces as the regional and national winners are called forward to bask in the appreciation of their peers, colleagues, friends and family.

The fact that their profession is acknowledging their hard work and dedication means a great deal to the winners. There is great pride in being a regional or national winner, or better yet, to be ‘crowned’ the best in the UK.

And all this happens once a year because colleagues take a little time to fill in a form and say who they think should be the ‘Radiographer of the Year’ and the ‘Team of the Year’.
