Think BAD thoughts on WRD!

World Radiography Day (WRD), sponsored by Philips, continues to grow in momentum and this year it promises to be better than ever.
A record number of departments are expected to take part on 8 November, marking the event with a variety of activities. Departments planning fundraising activities are encouraged to support a new initiative, launched by the SoR’s Benevolent Fund to coincide with WRD.
The fund – which assists Society members, former members and their families in times of financial crisis and distress – is challenging radiographers to find novel ideas to raise as much money as possible around WRD and the following months.
The day has been coined Benevolent Fund Awareness Day (BAD) and is being promoted with the slogan: ‘Do not get SAD invest in BAD...secure the future. Every little helps, every little more helps dividends’.
“Last year, Andy Powell from Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle organised a coordinated set of rowing relay events at several hospital sites. This netted over £970 for the charity,” explained Sue Barlow, chair of the Benevolent Fund’s board of trustees.
“Through BAD we hope to raise valuable funds so that we can be sure we have the means to do the best for radiographers and their families,” said Sue.
So, get your thinking caps on and prepare to make money! There are lots of handy fundraising ideas and tips on the internet.
