NHS Pay Campaign
The Society of Radiographers is campaigning for fairer pay in the NHS, following the Government's decision to ignore the Independent Pay Review Body's recommendation that all NHS staff should receive a 1% pay rise.
NHS staff who receive increments will be denied the rise. Increments reflect a radiographer’s progression and are closely linked to their competencies. They are not a substitute for an annual pay rise, which is needed to bring a salary in line with the increased cost of living.
NHS pay has been frozen for four out of the past five years, meaning that staff have seen a 15% decline in their purchasing power as prices have increased but their pay has remained static.
Having balloted members, we took industrial action on 20 October. There is a further period of strike action scheduled for 24 November.
