World Radiography Day is celebrated on 8 November each year. The date marks the anniversary of the discovery of x-radiation by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895.
Radiographers worldwide can use the day and the days around the date to promote radiography as a career, as a vital contribution to modern healthcare, and as an opportunity to increase public awareness of diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy.
We need your ideas for this year’s World Radiography Day poster competition. This is your chance to achieve lasting fame and earn admiring glances from your colleagues.
Four poster designs will be chosen to be included in the packs sent to the hundreds of departments that request them annually to help celebrate World Radiography Day.
Our posters each have the winner’s name printed on them, and it’s a great opportunity to inform patients and visitors about our profession and the role of radiographers.
The designers of the chosen posters receive a cash prize and a framed copy of their winning artwork.
So for 2021 we are asking you to design a poster on the theme ‘celebrating and promoting the profession’.
Scan or take a photo of the design to create a PDF or a jpeg. If you create your concept in a digitally, send a PDF of the final design. Upload your designs to the online submission form by Friday 03 September.
The Society’s Communications Forum, which is made up of members and officers.
This is a competition open to everyone. Richard Evans, the Society’s chief executive officer, said: ‘Your concept doesn’t need to be perfect. It can be as simple as a pencil sketch. It’s the ideas that are important, not how they are presented. Your design will be sensitively translated to a standard that can be printed on a poster. It’s your inspiration we’re looking for. It needs to stand out from the crowd. The more striking the idea, the better!’
The 2020 posters and logo can be downloaded below or to request A4 and A3 copies of each poster, please email [email protected].
