The College of Radiographers (CoR) is a UK registered charity and subsidiary of the Society of Radiographers, the trade union and professional body for the radiographic workforce and associated professionals in the UK. The CoR is concerned with the promotion and development of medical imaging and radiotherapy, the promotion of study and research into radiography, and the promotion of public awareness of the profession.
The Society and College of Radiographers are two separate companies operating together to provide service and support for those involved in radiography, including as patients, service users and the public.
We are seeking an experienced Trustee or Company Director to join the Board of the College of Radiographers as a Trustee and Chair on a voluntary basis. This role is non-remunerated; out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
As Chair, you will lead the Board, forging effective working relationships with Trustees, CEO and Executive Team, presiding over purposeful meetings with a strategic focus.
Your role will be instrumental in ensuring sound governance within our organisation. Drawing on your leadership expertise and along with fellow trustees, you will play a key role in shaping our organisational strategy, providing scrutiny on all aspects of our work, including strategic planning, budgeting and financial reporting, risk and compliance.
Your previous experience as a Trustee and business leader within the charity sector or healthcare sector, will enable you to provide valuable insights and leadership to the Board and senior management. Your commitment to transparency, accountability, and the radiography profession will contribute to the College’s long-term sustainability and success.
Our preference would be for individuals who have experience of the charity sector, healthcare, or regulatory environments and a member of the Society of Radiographers, however we have a commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion so would also encourage applications if your experience were from a different sector. Previous experience as a Board Chair or Vice-Chair is welcomed.
We are committed to cultivating an inclusive and diverse workplace at all levels of the organisation, including our Board, as we believe that this fosters creativity and innovation and is representative of the world around us, and everyone is therefore eligible to apply. We especially encourage applicants from ethnically diverse and underrepresented backgrounds to apply, reflecting the true diversity of our membership body.
We are a Disability Confident committed organisation dedicated to fostering an inclusive recruitment experience for everyone. If you need assistance with your application, or a reasonable adjustment to the recruitment and selection process – for example, because you are neurodivergent, or have a physical, sensory, cognitive, mental, visible or invisible disability – please let us know, and we will be happy to help.
We encourage candidates to bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the role. Whatever way you like to work, and whatever your background, if you have the skills, experience, talent, and commitment to join our team, we would like to hear from you.
