The Royal College of Radiologists and College of Radiographers have developed the Imaging Services accreditation Scheme (ISAS) to support diagnostic imaging services to manage the quality of their services and make continuous improvements; ensuring that their patients consistently receive high quality services delivered by competent staff working in safe environments.

ISAS is jointly owned by the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and the Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR), who have developed the standard in consultation with Imaging Services across the country.

Accreditation to Professional Standards is supported by the CQC, NHS England, NHS Northern Ireland and NHS Wales.

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) deliver and manage ISAS on behalf of the Colleges and carries out assessments for accreditation against all elements of the ISAS Standard.

UKAS accreditation gives formal third-party recognition that an imaging services provider has demonstrated their organisational competence to deliver high quality imaging services.

Visit the ISAS website to find out more, including information about organisations accredited so far, workshops to help services prepare for ISAS accreditation, and becoming an ISAS assessor.

The Standard 2017

The new ISAS standard was released January 2017 and can be found here

The, v2.1 2013 standard will still be used for those about to complete accreditation and can be found here.

For those services that have been assessed against v2.1 2013, your UKAS assessment manager will be in contact to discuss and support your transition to v3. 2017, details can be found in the transition brochure here.

The new Standard now has five domains, 29 standard statements and 143 criteria compared with the previous version which had four domains, 33 standard statements and 213 criteria.

The Gap Analysis Tool (Traffic Light Ready, TLR) has also been extensively updated by UKAS.

Currently 31 services across the country have received accreditation and they are all are happy to answer questions you may have about their experience and you are welcome to visit their sites. You will find their details here.
