Protecting radiology patients from Covid-19

29 June 2020

A newly published leaflet offers patients advice about the precautions imaging and interventional radiology teams are putting in place to protect them from Covid-19.

Created by the Royal College of Radiologists and the SCoR, the guidance answers questions such as ‘How am I protected?’ and ‘What else do I need to know?’

The special measures hospitals have put in place to treat coronavirus patients separately are outlined, as well as the additional protective precautions that patients will see when they attend, including being asked about coronavirus symptoms, wearing a mask, and having their temperature checked.

“We understand that you might be worried about going to hospital for diagnostic tests, x-rays or scans, or for procedures undertaken with imaging guidance during the coronavirus pandemic,” the leaflet states.

“We would like to reassure you that imaging teams are doing everything they can to keep you safe.”
