SoR welcomes extension of Covid-19 National Industrial Relations Statement

Published: 24 June 2020 SoR welcomes extension of Covid-19 National Industrial Relations Statement

After direct input from the SoR and other unions, an updated version of the Covid-19 National Industrial Relations Statement has been agreed between NHS Employers and unions.

The original statement was due to expire on 30 June. The new version builds positively on the first which was issued at the start of the pandemic.

"The statement helped bring structure, common sense and order to what could otherwise have been a chaotic industrial relations environment," Dean Rogers, the SoR’s director of industrial strategy and member relations, said.

“It has been really useful for employers and unions reps. It was important that we could renew the document and have important national guidance available for the on-going situation.

"It’s also good that our concerns, especially about how to progress long standing sensitive cases in a positive and safe way have been acknowledged and incorporated into the final version.”
