Categories, eligibility, and nomination forms

  • Radiography Team of the Year

    This award celebrates a stand-out team in radiography who use innovative practices to improve service delivery, the standards of patient care, or radiography education.

    Prizes

    • Regional Team of the Year; one winner per region / country receives £100
    • UK Team of the Year; one overall winner selected from the regional / country winners receives an additional £250

    Guidelines

    • To be eligible, at least 2 members of the team should be currently in SoR membership as well as the person making the nomination.
    • Teams who have received this award within the past five years are not eligible for nomination this year.

    What our judges are looking for:

    To ensure your submission is as strong as possible, your nomination should include:

    • Measurable team achievements
    • Evidence of implementation of innovative practice and its effect on patient care, service delivery or radiography education
    • Examples of multi-professional collaboration

  • Radiography Professional of the Year

    The Radiography Professional of the Year award aims to recognises an individual’s remarkable contribution to our profession. They are dedicated to improving patient care, enhancing service delivery and promoting the profile of our profession.

    Prizes

    • Regional Radiography Professional of the Year; one winner per region / country receives £100

    • UK Radiography Professional of the Year; one overall winner selected from the regional / country winners receives an additional £250

    Guidelines

    • The person making the nomination and the individual being nominated, should both be SoR members, in current membership
    • Nominations must be made by a colleague or peer. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
    • Individuals who have received this award within the past five years are not eligible for nomination this year.

    What our judges are looking for

    To ensure your submission is as strong as possible, your nomination should include the following:​

    • Measurable achievements that highlight your nominee’s contribution to our profession
    • Examples that demonstrate your nominee’s positive impact on patient care and service delivery
    • Evidence of advocacy or outreach efforts that have raised the profile of our profession

  • Radiography Learner of the Year

    This award recognises a student or apprentice who has demonstrated passion for our profession. They have excelled academically and clinically, delivered high levels of patient care, and have contributed positively to the student cohort, working environment and/or wider radiography community.

    Prizes

    • Regional Radiography Learner of the Year; one winner per region / country receives £100
    • UK Radiography Learner of the Year; one overall winner selected from the regional and country winners receives an additional £250

    Guidelines

    • The individual nominated should be a student or degree apprentice on a CoR approved course.
    • The individual nominated and the person making the nomination should be SoR members in current membership.
    • Nominations must be made by a peer. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
    • Individuals who have received this award within the past five years are not eligible for nomination this year.

    What our judges are looking for

    Judges will assess each nomination based on the responses to the questions on this page. To ensure your nomination is as strong as possible, please include:

    • Measurable achievements
    • Evidence that demonstrates commitment to learning and development as a radiographer
    • Examples of professionalism and good practices in relation to patient care
    • Examples of positive contribution to the workplace / learning environment or support to peers

  • Radiography Educator of the Year

    This a student nominated award, which honours an educator who is committed to improving the learning experiences of students and/or radiography apprentices. They promote inclusive learning environments, use innovative teaching methods, and inspire their students.

    Prize

    • We offer two awards, one for Diagnostic Radiography Educator of the Year and one for Therapeutic Radiography Educator of the year. Both winners receive £250. 

    Guidelines

    • The person making the nomination should be a SoR student member or in SoR membership under the relevant category for those undertaking a degree apprenticeship.
    • The individual being nominated, should be a SoR member and part of a teaching team delivering a pre-registration programme or a degree apprenticeship that has been approved by the College of Radiographers.
    • Individuals who have received this award within the past five years are not eligible for nomination this year.

    What our judges are looking for

    To ensure your submission is as strong as possible, your nomination should include:

    • Examples of educator’s passion for our profession and/or improving the patience experience
    • Example of educator’s impact on student learning experiences
    • Behaviours, skills, traits that foster student engagement

  • Patient’s Choice Award for Exceptional Care

    Awarded by the Patient Advisory Group, this award recognises one radiography professional and one radiography team who goes above and beyond to enhance the patient experience. They exceed expectations in advocating for patient-centred care and champion the patient voice.

    Prizes

    • One award for an individual radiographer and one for a team, receiving £100 each. 

    Guidelines

    • For the team award, at least 2 members of the team should currently be in SoR membership, as well as the person making the nomination. For the individual award, the person making the nomination and the individual being nominated, should both be SoR members, in current membership.
    • Individuals / teams who have received this award within the past five years are not eligible for nomination this year.

    What our judges are looking for

    To ensure your submission is as strong as possible, your nomination should include:

    • Measurable achievements that demonstrate a commitment to exceptional patient care
    • Examples of innovative approaches to delivering patient-centred care
    • Evidence of meaningful impact on the patient experience

    How to apply

    You will need to complete either the Radiography Professional or Radiography Teamof the Year nomination form. Here, you will have the option to ‘opt in’ for the Patient’s Choice Award and to provide more detail on why your nominee is dedicated to improving patient experiences.
