I qualified as a radiographer from Kingston University in 1997 and began my career at St George's, where I have remained ever since. I've always enjoyed the pace, variety and complexity of work being in a large teaching hospital and major trauma centre. The dedicated and supportive Radiology team here are undoubtedly the reason I stayed with many colleagues becoming life long friends.

I have worked in CT, MRI, Cardiac Catheter Labs and IR, but my passion for Interventional Radiology led me to my current role as Deputy Superintendent. I became an SOR representative around 20 years ago-time has certainly flown-and although there have been challenging times, I wouldn't change a thing.

I started in Radiology as an Imaging Assistant from 2011-2016. I put myself through an access course and then university whilst still working as an imaging assistant and I became a Radiographer in 2016. I then very quickly applied for a Senior Radiographer job in CT in 2017. I left that trust in 2019 as I was given the opportunity to train in management. In 2021 I was finally successful at obtaining a Deputy Superintendent Radiographer role. In 2023 I was give the opportunity to go back to university to do a PgCert in plain imaging reporting to become an Advanced Practitioner Radiographer. After many successful projects in my managerial role, in 2024 I was approached to work under the Chief AHP as a Chief AHP Fellow focusing on workforce planning and e-rostering projects. So my current roles are Deputy Superintendent, Advanced Practitioner and Chief AHP Fellow, alongside SoR Repping.

I am a CT radiographer and Industrial Relations rep at South Tees Trust. I've spent the majority of my career as a senior Cath Lab Radiographer at James Cook University Hospital in a multi-disciplinary, high pressure, lifesaving environment where I also began my career as an IR rep.

Seeking a new challenge, I made the brave move after 10 years at the Cath Labs to become a CT Radiographer, eventually specializing in CT cardiac imaging. I have recently been awarded a distinction in my PgCert in CT imaging, which has equipped me to fulfil the advanced role of vetting CT requests.

Being one of the very few SoR IR reps in the trust can be challenging but incredibly rewarding. I am committed to giving my time to; support my colleagues, ensure fairness and equality across specialties and departments, and actively encourage others to take on the role as a rep.

In 2024, I moved to NHS Fife, to specialise in CT, where I continued my union representative role alongside fellow SoR Reps, continuing to support a large and diverse staff group across multiple imaging modalities. Through my representative role, I have contributed to positive organisational change, advocated for staff wellbeing, and fostered open and constructive communication between management and staff.

In addition to my work in MRI I also perform CT, Plain Film X-rays and Cone Beam dental scans. I have held the role of COSHH lead in my department and supported the development of students and staff in all modalities I work in. I have a keen interest in imaging children and those with imaging anxieties as it gives me great pride in helping support them through their journey and getting the best possible imaging.

I graduated from Bangor University in 2018 and started working at the Great Western Hospital. Alongside plain film, I trained in Fluoroscopy/Interventional Radiology, CT and the Cath Lab. I am part of a small team of Radiographers trained to undertake barium swallows, which has completely changed the way I see the procedure. I have increased my knowledge of anatomy, disease pathway and treatment options for upper GI conditions. As part of my role in the Cath Lab I am proficient in intravascular imaging, having attended a comprehensive training course in Prague. We are also starting a thoracic thrombectomy service at the hospital, which has been fascinating to take part in. I am in charge of PPE QA across the hospital, which led me to become a Radiation Protection Supervisor to expand my knowledge on radiation safety.
