Head and Neck Therapeutic Radiographer SIG

A group for all therapeutic radiographers who actively involved in the oncological management of patients with head and neck cancer.


This SIG is a forum/platform aimed to allow individuals to share information across this specialism and connect with like minded colleagues nationally. Therefore being able to share learning and education, patient support and management, radiographer career and progression, share best practice and sharing applicable governance guidance documents. 

The main purposes of this group are available to view below:

  • Support and contribute to the development of therapeutic radiographer practice in the oncology management of patients with head and neck cancer.
  • To provide peer support for therapeutic radiographers to share knowledge, clinical expertise and to exchange ideas.
  • To share and advance the knowledge of head and neck specialists within radiotherapy/oncology departments.
  • Promote and lead improvement and innovation in identifying, predicting and managing patients with head and neck cancer who have undergone radiotherapy/oncology management.
  • Contribute to the development of best practice guidelines and information for the health profession and patients.
  • Facilitate professional development and raise the profile of radiographers with an interest in head and neck cancer amongst the healthcare profession and the wider landscape including cancer charities.
  • Provide a forum for the discussion of training requirements and opportunities.
  • Develop and participate in research projects that will benefit patients with head and neck cancer undergoing oncology management.
