Support Worker SIG

Providing support workers with a platform to connect and share best practice.

Welcome

The Support Worker Special Interest Group (SIG) is a lively community of Society of Radiographers members that brings together support staff (including imaging and radiotherapy assistants, mammography associates, and radiography assistant practitioners) to share ideas, exchange experiences, and collaboratively develop their profession.

Aims

Led by support workforce members like founding chair Sophie Pearce, and supported by the SoR Regional, National and Professional Officers, the SIG aims to:

  • Increase the visibility and importance of support staff within the Society of Radiographers
  • Develop Member recruitment materials
  • Develop resources on the Support Worker and Assistant Practitioner Resource (SWAP) Hub
  • Develop and support CPD resources/sessions and grow the SWAP Hub
  • Encourage, recruit and support new reps from the Support workforce
  • Provide information on issues that affect the Support workforce
  • Create a place where Support staff can talk about the issues that affect them and seek support
  • Increase membership numbers to build a louder voice and a stronger union
  • Share ideas for enhancing services and improving patient care, and separately, support staff wellbeing

Details of how to join the SIG, will be shared soon.
