There are two candidates up for election this year. Learn more about them and their priorities if elected, below (listed in random order):

As a diagnostic radiographer with over 30 years’ experience, I’m standing for election to the role of Vice President within the Society of Radiographers, as I am passionate about radiography and the positive impact both diagnostic and therapeutic radiographers have in patients’ journeys. Added to this, I have always been a proud and active member within the Society of Radiographers including roles on Welsh Council, many attendances at ADC and several years’ experience of being on UK Council in two separate stints.
My career started with a strong foundation in clinical practice and this along with many years senior leadership and managerial experience within diagnostic radiography departments, gives me the belief that I am more than capable of stepping into the presidential team and taking on such a prestigious lead role within the organisation. My current day job is at a national level with insight into latest developments and political drivers across all four nations of the UK.
In addition, I have experience in:
If successful, I would continue to work with staff members, the presidential team and UK Council members to strengthen the long‑term success of the organisation by promoting professional leadership, growing the membership and expanding the representation, and supporting equality, diversity, and inclusion. I take a particular interest in workforce wellbeing, workforce sustainability and career progression, and I will advocate for initiatives that help members thrive throughout their careers.
I am committed to undertaking the role with honesty, energy, enthusiasm and purpose.
I’m willing to work hard to ensure radiographers and our membership are valued, supported, and empowered and our patients are at the heart of everything we do. I aim to balance the demands of the role with time away with the family, greyhound and my love of football.
I hope this demonstrates my ability to undertake the role and respectfully request that you vote for me.

About me
I am a diagnostic radiographer with over 20 years’ experience, and I currently lead multiple diagnostic modalities, including X-ray, interventional and Nuclear Medicine. I have previously worked as an advanced practitioner before moving into senior management roles.
Throughout my career, the Society of Radiographers has played a vital role in supporting my professional development and shaping standards of practice. Over the years I have represented the organisation in Health & Safety, Industrial Relations and on UK Council. I am standing for Vice President because I care deeply about the future of our profession and believe that strong, credible leadership is essential at a time of increasing clinical demand, workforce pressure and rapid technological change.
What I bring to the Vice President role
My clinical and strategic background gives me a broad understanding of the full diagnostic and interventional pathway, from frontline practice to advanced and consultant‑level roles. Having worked across multiple modalities and service models, I understand the realities facing members at different stages of their careers and in varying organisational contexts. I am equally committed to continually learning about modalities and professional areas outside my own direct experience, including therapeutic radiography, and I place particular value on listening to members’ perspectives to ensure their voices, challenges and expertise inform my leadership
As a senior leader, I have extensive experience in service development, workforce planning, governance, quality improvement and supporting advanced and reporting practice. I am particularly passionate about ensuring that role development is safe, sustainable and properly supported, with clear professional standards and appropriate recognition.
This experience positions me well to contribute to the Society’s strategic priorities, particularly around workforce sustainability, professional development, patient safety and the continued advancement of radiography practice.
How I would contribute to the Society of Radiographers
If elected, I would be a visible, approachable and engaged member of the Presidential Team. I am fully committed to the responsibilities of the Vice President role, including active participation in UK Council, committees and advisory groups, and representing the Society at national meetings and events.
I value collaborative leadership and would work constructively with Council members, officers and staff to help navigate complex professional and organisational challenges. I am keen to support and mentor new Council members, drawing on my experience in leadership and professional development.
I am also committed to upholding the Society’s values, including equality, diversity and inclusion, and to ensuring that the voices of members from all backgrounds, roles and regions are heard.
Why your vote matters
The Vice President role is a key stage in the Presidential pathway, requiring continuity, integrity and genuine commitment. I offer a combination of extensive clinical credibility, strategic leadership experience and a strong sense of professional responsibility.
I would be proud to serve members, support the President and help lead the Society of Radiographers with clarity, compassion and purpose.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my statement and for supporting the work of our professional body.
