Founded in 1920, the Society of Radiographers (SoR) is the only body in the UK representing the whole of the radiographic workforce. SoR is a trade union and professional body representing the professional, educational, public and workplace interests of its 30,000 members. The College is a charitable body registered in England and Scotland.
The Society of Radiographers has an exciting opportunity to join our team of national and regional officers. We are looking for a positive and knowledgeable leader with the skills, capacity and enthusiasm to influence and lead on all aspects of industrial relations across Scotland.
The successful applicant will advise, support and coach our team of local representatives working across health boards and private sector health providers in all areas of their work supporting SoR members. They will also seek to influence national health policy and outcomes for SoR members by making representations to employers and wider stakeholders. These include the Scottish Parliament, in partnership with the Society’s Scottish Executive Committee and other health unions in Scotland.
They will also co-ordinate and help deliver our representative recruitment, development and training programmes to maximise the effectiveness of local member support and engagement across Scotland, with opportunities to help shape and develop our UK wide programmes.
The successful applicant will also work in close partnership with the SoR Professional Officer for Scotland.
The role allows a high degree of flexibility and will be home based, although there is a requirement for extensive travel, including some overnight stays away from home, particularly given the national nature of the role. The person will therefore be expected to have a full driving license.
