  • Trainee Consultant Radiographer Son

    Ms Catherine Lee

    Cat was recently reminded how old she was when she received her 20 NHS long service award. She started in the NHS as a porter, before training as a Radiographer and then a Sonographer, and has worked in range of Trusts, Afghanistan and Industry over the years. She is now a trainee Consultant Radiographer, performing image guided procedures and loves all things ultrasound, workforce well-being and quality improvement. She is the chair of the SoR Ultrasound Advisory Group and has just started her PhD. Outside of work her hobbies include walking her new dog, knitting, Morris dancing (shh!) and convincing her children to get dressed in the morning.

  • Senior Research Fellow

    Dr Jacqueline Matthew

    Dr Jackie Matthew is a clinical academic sonographer, radiographer and healthcare innovator with over 20 years' experience across clinical practice, research, education and health technology development. She holds a PhD in advanced 3D ultrasound and fetal MRI and now leads a multicentre randomised controlled trial in ultrasound imaging, artificial intelligence and service innovation. Jackie combines frontline NHS experience with academic leadership and industry collaboration, supporting the translation of AI-enabled ultrasound tools into real-world practice. She is a co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of a UK health-tech spin-out focused on improving efficiency, quality and access in pregnancy ultrasound, and has held member and leadership roles within professional societies and national innovation programmes. Her work has been recognised through multiple awards, including the NHS Chief Allied Health Profession Officers Gold Award for Excellence, and she is passionate about workforce development, supporting inclusive research, and empowering clinicians to lead innovation safely and ethically.

  • Clinical Specialist Sonographer

    Mrs Becky Slough

    Rebecca is a Clinical Specialist Sonographer at Cambridge University Hospitals with a specialist interest in endometriosis and adenomyosis. Her clinical practice focuses on advanced gynaecological ultrasound, particularly the accurate assessment of complex pelvic pathology. Rebecca is passionate about education, training, and service development, and actively supports clinicians in developing and implementing endometriosis ultrasound services within their departments. She has delivered presentations for Canon and BMUS, and has previously exhibited research and posters at BMUS. In addition to her clinical role, Rebecca is a faculty member for the Advanced Gynaecology Ultrasound Course at KCL and has also been faculty for BMUS practical sessions in bowel ultrasound and endometriosis. Her work reflects a strong commitment to advancing ultrasound practice and improving patient care.

  • Lead Sonographer/ Advanced Pract

    Mrs Charmaine Salfarlie-Binns

    Charmaine joined West Hertfordshire Hospital in 2021 where she performed a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound scans including obstetrics, gynaecology, generals, and small parts. Charmaine developed a keen interest in Breast Imaging and pursued an exciting training opportunity to work in the symptomatic breast clinic performing breast ultrasound and interventional procedures (core biopsy, fine needle aspiration, marker clip, guide wire placements) and film reading after qualifying in Extending Advanced Practice and Mammographic Film reading MSc modules. Charmaine works with a variety of patients who have clinical assessments, imaging and if necessary interventional procedures performed on the same day and participates in multidisciplinary team meetings. Breast imaging is an exciting field, one that is constantly adapting, and progressing. Charmaine hope's to encourage other allied health professionals to have the belief and confidence in themselves to take on more advanced practitioner skills and roles for a fulfilling carer.

  • Lead Sonographer

    Mrs Nicki Davidson

    Nicki Davidson has been a Sonographer since 2005 working at Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust. She has been Lead Sonographer since 2013 and has held other roles at a local university and other trusts. Nicki has a large clinical component to her role, specialising in Head and Neck ultrasound and has recently gained Advanced Practice accreditation via the e-portfolio route. She is a member of the SoR Ultrasound Advisory Group and Chair for the West Midlands Imaging Network NOUS special interest Group. She has spoken at many conferences about ultrasound leadership especially around preceptorship and development of undergraduate ultrasound routes

  • Clinical Specialist Sonographer

    Mrs Roxanne Sicklen

    Roxanne is a Clinical Specialist Sonographer with a long-standing interest in early pregnancy and gynaecological ultrasound. She is a current member of the Association of Early Pregnancy Units (AEPU) executive committee, BMUS education and professional standards committee and the Society of Radiographers (SoR) ultrasound advisory group. In addition to her clinical role, Roxanne works at Kings College London, contributing to their Obstetrics and Gynaecology ultrasound module.

  • Practice Educator Lead

    Ms Sharon Watty

    Sharon is a sonographer and now has over 10 years experience being the ultrasound practice educator and professional development lead at Guys and St Thomas hospital. Sharon has a passion for developing the sonographer workforce and the professional identity of the workforce. Always working towards the 4 pillars to advanced ultrasound practice encouraging expertise and learning in a holistic way. Sharon shares her passion by lecturing at Kings College London and is a member of BMUS practice educators specialist interest group.

  • Professional Officer for Ultrasound

    Prof Gill Harrison

    Gill is a Professor, diagnostic radiographer and sonographer with extensive experience in clinical practice and education. Before becoming Professional Officer for Ultrasound at the Society Radiographers, she was Associate Professor, Ultrasound Programme Director and Lead for Teaching Excellence at City, University of London. She currently lectures at several universities in the UK and overseas. She has been involved in writing standards, guidance documents and educational material including an ultrasound textbook. Gill led the ultrasound survey group for the European Federation of Radiographer Societies, has written guidance and e-learning materials for NHS elearning for health and the ISRRT. Gill is involved in strategic ultrasound developments, educational standards and accreditation, leadership and imposter syndrome coaching.
