AHPs invited to apply for NIHR/CNO Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowships

Magnifying glass

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Health Professions Officer for England have announced the launch of a further round of the NIHR/CNO Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship scheme.

The scheme is designed to support nurses, midwives and allied health professionals to develop careers which combine research and continued clinical practice in support of the NHS.

It is aimed at graduate (post-degree) nurses, midwives and allied health professionals working in England who have at least one year’s experience of clinical practice since graduating, have had sufficient research experience or research training to prepare them to undertake a PhD, and who wish to obtain a PhD by research whilst still developing their clinical skills.

A Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship will fund the salary costs of the award holder, their PhD tuition fees, and the costs of an appropriate research project and training and development programme.

Applicants must hold current registration with the Health and Care Professionals Council at the point of award.

Further information and instructions for applicants are available at http://www.nihrtcc.nhs.uk/cat/cdrf.

Completed applications must be received by 1.00 pm on 30 April 2013.
