World Radiography Day 2019 poster competition

We want your ideas for this year’s World Radiography Day posters.

Four poster designs are chosen to be included in the packs sent to the more than a thousand departments who request them for World Radiography Day in November.

Achieve lasting fame and admiring glances from your colleagues. The posters have the winner’s name printed on them and many departments display them for at least a year after the World Radiography Day celebrations.

Designers of the chosen posters receive a cash prize and a framed copy of their winning design. You must be a member of the Society of Radiographers to enter.

It is a brilliant opportunity to inform patients and visitors about the profession and the role of radiographers.

We are asking you to design one or more posters from the following themes:

  • Radiographers put the patient first
  • Ever thought of being a radiographer (highlighting recruitment to the profession)
  • Professionals behind the image and the treatment
  • Pride in our profession (promoting equality and diversity)

Get your poster design into departments across the UK and show the public what the profession is all about.

What’s the prize?
Cash equivalent to a year’s free membership of the SCoR
A framed copy of your poster
Your poster printed and displayed in hundreds of departments across the UK

How do I enter?
Design a poster you believe will do your profession proud and present it in a  positive way to the public.
You can submit as many entries as you like.
You may use any medium you wish, from paints and pens to Photoshop or Word. It can be a collage, a drawing, or whatever format you prefer and find easiest.

In what format should I send my design?
Scan or take a photo of the design (if it’s not digital) to create a PDF or a jpeg. If you create your concept in a digital program, please send a PDF of the final design.

Email it to by Sunday, 4 August 2019.

Who will judge my design?
The Society’s Communications Group, which is made up of members and officers from the organisation. Members of the group are not eligible to enter.

Remember: You don’t need to be a designer or artist. This is a competition open to all Society members.

Hints and tips:
Richard Evans, the Society’s chief executive officer, says, “Your concept doesn’t need to be perfect. It can be as simple as a pencil sketch. It’s the ideas that are important, not how they are presented.

“Your design will be sensitively translated to a standard that can be printed on a poster. It’s your inspiration we’re looking for. It needs to stand out from the crowd. The more striking the idea, the better!”

World Radiography Day is kindly sponsored by Fujifilm.
