Rep of the Year 2013

Janine Pierson

Janine Pierson

An industrial relations representative from Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield is the Society's 2013 UK Representative of the Year.

Janine Pierson of the Yorkshire & North Trent Region beat nine other nominees for the title. She was praised by colleagues for staunchly upholding members’ interests during negotiations on out-of-hours working.

Janine has also taken on the role of Secretary for the Regional Committee, where she has redesigned the committee structure so that the roles are clearer and new committee members receive more support.

As her region’s delegation leader at ADC, Janine achieved a full ADC delegation for the first time in some years. She personally emailed all members in the region to encourage them to attend the conference.

Holding back tears as she received the award, Janine commented: "It's absolutely emotional. I didn't expect this at all. You never do this work expecting to get recognition – that's not why you do it. But to get recognised like this, and know that what you're doing makes a difference to people, it does mean a lot to me."

The regional and country winners of SoR Rep of the Year 2012 are:
