SCoR welcomes new student observers
Rachael and Sundeep following their election to student observer post
Two students have been welcomed as the Society's new observers to UK Council.
Rachael Bailey and Sundeep Singh Kung were elected by delegates at this year's Annual Delegates Conference, held in Brighton. The pair will attend the SCoR's Council meetings at the Society's headquarters in London, to observe its work and practices.
Rachael is a second-year therapeutic radiography student at Kingston & St George's University of London. She has been a student representative for the past two years, voicing the opinions of her cohort to the university's radiography undergraduate panel.
Says Rachael: "I'm genuinely interested in learning about what goes on behind the scenes of the radiography profession alongside academic and clinical learning. As a student radiographer, I'm looking forward to bringing my knowledge to the table and speaking on behalf of student radiographers. Having the opportunity to be involved by being a student observer will be an amazing experience."
Sundeep is a postgraduate student of radiotherapy and oncology at Sheffield Hallam, having previously studied Economics. Sundeep has a strong interest in health economics and policy which, he says, led him to this year's ADC.
"The wider field of radiography and health policy are of great interest to me. Prior to coming to ADC I attended four conferences, one of which addressed high levels of student attrition. I'm looking forward to being part of UK Council and getting more fully involved in the Society. I'm also looking forward to bringing my skills, passion and enthusiasm to the post and hope to be the voice of students and give back as much as I can."
