The SCoR’s innovative online tool, CPD Now, has won a Bronze award at the Learning and Performance Institute’s (LPI) annual Learning Awards.

The awards recognise outstanding examples of high standards, best practice, innovation and excellence in learning and development, and the SCoR faced tough opposition in its category, Innovation in Learning.

The category was open to any organisation that could demonstrate that it has made a ‘unique and innovative contribution to the delivery of learning’, with judges looking for ‘new or substantially novel ways of engaging learners, stimulating the creation and sharing of knowledge, integrating learning and work, and accelerating organisational learning’.

CPD Now has been developed in partnership with Axia Interactive Media, which has radically redesigned it to support the learning activities of SCoR members.

In the entry submission, Axia highlighted how the ‘far reaching transformation of the design of the site has led to a fourfold increase in the number of members logging into CPD Now and a similarly dramatic increase in those who have applied for accreditation’.

It further said that ‘through the innovative use of technology, learner journeys have been simplified’, with this approach now being adopted by other organisations, including universities.

Just to be shortlisted was an achievement in itself. In his opening address, LPI managing director Ed Monk said: “With a record number of entries this year, almost 300, to be a finalist is in itself an outstanding achievement. Tonight, there are no winners and losers. You are all ‘the best of the best’.”

Professional Officer Louise Coleman said the SCoR was “over the moon” with the bronze award.

“We know that CPD Now is an innovative solution to planning, recording and evaluating CPD,” she said. “But we wanted to showcase it to a wider audience and show them that the Society and College of Radiographers and Axia Interactive Media are well ahead of other professional bodies when it comes to enabling our members to use CPD for a variety of purposes, including gaining accreditation.

“To then be recognised in the company of large and well known businesses and organisations is wonderful.”

The other companies shortlisted in the SCoR’s category were: PwC & Atticmedia which won the gold medal; Bayer which won silver; BT; Humana: National Education; and the Open University. One of the judges tweeted the SCoR, saying: ‘Well done folks – I enjoyed your presentation – was a tough judging category, pleased for you’.

The presentations were held at a glittering ceremony at London’s Dorchester Hotel, attended by all those shortlisted for awards, LPI members and award sponsors, and hosted by presenter Claudia Winkleman.
