An exciting opportunity has arisen for two experienced MR radiographers to take up permanent full-time posts as part of our group of four research MR radiographers who work as part of a bigger team of clinical imaging researchers in the University of Sheffield MRI unit.
The University of Sheffield MRI unit currently operates 3 MRI scanners; two GE 1.5T systems and one GE 3.0T PET/MR based across two sites at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. We plan to install a GE 1.5T Artist wide bore system towards the end of the year. We carry out internationally recognised research in the fields of pulmonary vascular imaging, lung imaging with the use of hyperpolarised agents as well as neuro research imaging (including functional MR) and in-utero fetal imaging. The unit also performs clinical MRI scans in partnership with the NHS.
The successful candidates will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of Radiologists, Radiographers, Clinicians, Physiologists, MR Physicists and Engineers and will be expected to support all activities within the MRI unit. You will have significant post-qualification experience in MRI scanning.
Role development within our research groups and contribution to research output is actively encouraged with the opportunity for further academic study.
It is important that you have the ability to acquire and analyse high-quality MR images and are able to make a meaningful contribution to the research work of the team. You should also have a comprehensive and up to date knowledge of MR systems, procedures, safety issues, policies, legislation and quality standards. It is essential that applicants are HCPC-registered.
The role is 35 hours per week as per University of Sheffield contracts and is generally spread over four extended working days with an expectation for occasional evening work.
