The Regional Cancer Treatment Service (RCTS) is the non-surgical cancer treatment provider for the central North Island, covering a population of 550,000. All radiation treatment is currently located in Palmerston North however, there are exciting plans in development to locate new linacs closer to home for our patients in other regions.
We have four linacs and equipment from Varian, Siemens, Elekta and RaySearch. We have completed a replacement programme with the installation of a Siemens Confidence CT, RayStation treatment planning and four Varian Truebeams.
We have an established VMAT, IGRT and Stereotactic programs and a strong culture of continuous improvement and development of both staff and technology. We are a social department with great people to work with from all over New Zealand and the world.
The MidCentral Region is ideally situated for those who like to work, rest and play – beaches close by, ski fields and wineries just up the road, stunning scenery with loads of hiking tracks including Te Arapuke mountain bike track. Our region also offers excellent schools and a local university. Cost of living is reasonable, housing is affordable, and rural living with stunning views only minutes from town is easily achievable.
