    Radiography (Journal) | Associate Editor

    Radiography is a peer-reviewed scientific radiography journal, focusing on topics such as research, clinical practice and education. They are pleased to announce that they are now accepting applications for the position of Associate Editor on the Radiography board.

    Who are Radiography looking for?

    • An individual with a radiography qualification and at least 5 years of experience working in radiography clinical practice, management, research or education environments;
    • Experience in writing for publication and a relevant publication record;
    • Experience of peer reviewing for at least one journal;
    • Experience across a range of research methods including both quantitative and qualitative;
    • A good understanding of the radiography discipline and its policy and practice within a particular geographical area and within a subject specialism;
    • Some understanding of editorial activity, ideally previous editorial board experience.

    About the role

    • The Associate Editor will be part of an Editorial Leadership Team and will undertake a range of operational and strategic duties. The specific portfolio of work that the Associate Editor will have responsibility for will be commensurate with their knowledge and expertise and agreed with the Editor-in-Chief.
    • You will normally be appointed by the publisher (Elsevier) for a term of 3 years, though this may be extended on an annual basis by mutual agreement.
    • Elsevier will pay you an annual honorarium for your services as Associate Editor, plus reasonable agreed expenses incurred during the pursuit of the role. You will also receive while you are an Associate Editor a complimentary subscription to the Journal for your personal use and complimentary access to Science Direct and Scopus.
    • You will work under the guidance of an Editorial Leadership Team which includes the Associate Editors, Honorary Consulting Editor, Fellows, plus the Editor-in-Chief, Journal Manager and the Publisher.
    • Your primary role is to be responsible for guiding selected manuscripts through the peer review process and making editorial decisions on behalf of the Editor-in-Chief (e.g. revise, reject, accept). This includes ensuring:
    • High scientific standards of accepted manuscripts. Reasonable efforts to ensure that published papers and their authors abide by scientific standards for integrity and objectivity, do not infringe the proprietary rights of others, do not defame others, and do not cause damage or harm to persons or property or to the good reputation of the Journal.
    • High standards of editorial practice. Efficient, timely and confidential coordination of editing, refereeing, submission for production and communications with authors. Ensure conformity with the Editorial Policies. 
    • You will be a member of the Editorial Leadership Team and Editorial Board and will participate in Editorial Board meetings and exchanges where possible in person, or via teleconferencing. You will be requested to feed into the Editorial Board your local knowledge of radiography policy and practice such that the journal remains internationally relevant and increases its global reach.
    • In conjunction with the Editorial Board, you will contribute to and /or source guest editorials, podcasts, invited commentaries, and review articles from key contacts in your geographical region / subject area.
    • You will work alongside the Editor-in-Chief to put into operation agreed Editorial Board strategic plans to maintain and improve journal standards and reputation.
    • You will seek opportunities to promote the journal to potential authors, reviewers and readers within your geographical area and radiography discipline. This may include engaging in author outreach activities through webinars and at key conferences and events to encourage the submission of high-quality manuscripts from both novice and experienced authors.
    • By mutual agreement, you may be requested to perform the role of a Guest Editor of a Special Edition relevant to your practice or specialism.

    The successful applicant will agree not to perform simultaneous editorial activities for any other scientific journal which may reasonably be considered as being in competition with the Journal. They should not be currently employed as an editor for other related Journals, or should be willing to step down from such a position on appointment as Associate Editor for Radiography.
