National practitioner-level competencies for radiographers working in CT practice in the UK

The Society of Radiographers (SoR) CT Advisory Group (CTAG) has developed this national competency framework to support consistent, safe and effective practice among radiographers working in computed tomography (CT).

Built on existing research, professional standards and education requirements, the framework establishes a benchmark for assessing practitioner-level knowledge, skills and experience. It complements formal education and training pathways while recognising the varied experience and responsibilities of radiographers across different CT services.

Designed for use across the NHS and independent sector, it supports employers in identifying training needs, assessing competence and promoting professional development, ultimately helping to reduce inconsistencies in practice and improve patient safety and quality of care.
