Reducing Pre-registration Attrition and Improving Retention in Radiotherapy

The Society of Radiographers is pleased to present the HEE funded, Radiotherapy RePAIR report.

The report provides Radiotherapy specific data on the 15 recommendations outlined in the 2018 HEE RePAIR report.  The report findings and discussions identified a number of proposals that could be explored further to address recruitment and retention in relation to both students and newly qualified professionals.  Based on the largest response rates and aligning with workforce agendas, a “traffic light” system was used to identify the most important  priority areas from the proposals (red being highest priority, followed by amber, then green).

The Society of Radiographers would like to thank Paul Chapman and Beverley Harden at HEE for their support in this project and also the higher education institutions in England delivering pre-registration Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) approved Therapeutic Radiography programmes of education, the NHS radiotherapy healthcare providers in England and the undergraduate Therapeutic Radiography students for their contribution to surveys, focus group and interviews.
