    Summary

    This document is as a result of collaboration between the Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR) and the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS).

    Originally published in this format in December 2015 it is reviewed every year to maintain currency. This is the fourth revision and is dated December 2019, identified also by a yellow cover.

    These guidelines are not designed to be prescriptive but to inform good ultrasound practice. They provide a valuable source of information for many ultrasound related topics with active links to relevant organisations for further advice and guidance. For this fourth revision we have been able to introduce section to section links for convenience and have re-ordered the various sections of the document.

    Summary

    The academic year 2017–18 has been another busy period for the College of Radiographers’ Approval and Accreditation Board (AAB). The AAB continues to work to ensure consistently high standards for the review of pre-registration programmes, continuing professional development (CPD) programmes, postgraduate programmes and short education programmes.  During this period, there were a significant number of applications to increase practice placement numbers, and careful review took place to ensure that equality in placement standards was achieved.  The AAB is pleased to support programmes with their development of academic and practice placement standards.

    Summary

    Work related musculo-skeletal disorders (WRMSD) are known to be associated with ultrasound practice. There are several causative factors including high workloads, increasing body mass index of patients, poor equipmentand room design and poor posture when scanning. It is important that ultrasound practitioners take care of themselves and their working environment whilst scanning.

    Written and developed by Gill Harrison, associate professor, ultrasound programme director, and lead for teaching excellence at City, University of London, the poster highlights good ergonomic practice for sonographers.

    This poster is an invitation for patients to get involved with the SCoR PAG to help shape the future of radiographic practice.

    Posters are available free of charge to download in A3 and A4 size and are intended for display in public areas.
