The Society of Radiographers' Advancing Practice Radiography (AP-RAD) Special Interest Group has issued a call for new members.
The Special Interest Group (SIG) gives professionals across diagnostic and therapeutic radiography – as well as the wider radiography community – the opportunity to collaborate and share knowledge. It is hosted on Synapse, a website that facilitates data-sharing and discussion between scientists.
Six facilitatorsrun theAP-RADgroup - Melanie Clarkson, Kim Whitlock, Katie Bradshaw, James Harcus, Helen Watts and Holly Spencer.
The SIG launched six months ago and currently has 133 members. Membership is open to radiographers of all levels, including trainees, educators and senior practitioners.
The group is currently collaborating with NHS Futures, a platform that allows NHS staff from different organisations to connect and benefit from shared knowledge.
New members of the SIG can partake in forum discussions to build their professional network and connect with other members. This can involve seeking advice or offering expertise to another member on a certain subject.
Participants are also encouraged to engage with events run by the group. On 2 October, the AP-RAD SIG hosted its first webinar, focusing on advanced practice recognition through the supported e-portfolio route in England. Those present heard the SIG’s main aims and received updates on national projects.
Two further webinars have been scheduled for 8 January 2025 and 7 May 2025.
