AHP event and awards launched by Welsh government

An inaugural event for Advanced Health Professionals (AHPs), pharmacists and healthcare scientists has been launched by the Welsh government to ‘recognise and celebrate the important and innovative work of these professional groups’ in Wales.

Healthier Wales: The Value of Person-Centred Care will take place at Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff and will welcome leaders and representatives of Welsh Government and NHS Wales.

Abstracts for poster and oral presentations are being accepted for the event and SCoR members are encouraged to get involved. Information on how to submit can be found on the AHP and HS awards website. 

The event will be followed in the evening by the Advancing Healthcare Awards Wales dinner and ceremony. Awards include:

  • Support staff member of the year
  • Allied Health Professional of the year, sponsored by the Welsh Therapies Advisory Committee
  • The Award for improving public health outcomes, sponsored by Public Health Wales
  • The Award for Making Every Day Count
  • The Award for outstanding contribution to research delivery, sponsored by Health and Care Research Wales
  • The Award for leadership and change management, sponsored by Health Education and Improvement Wales

Nominations can be submitted online until 5pm on 16 September 2019. 

In an official statement, Ruth Crowder, chief AHPs adviser said, “We are delighted to announce our first National conference and awards ceremony on 26 November 2019.

“We ask you to support us in recognising and celebrating the achievements of all three professions throughout Wales.”

Health Boards and Trusts in Wales have been allocated a set number of spaces for this event. Contact the chief executive at your trust to register your interest.
