SoR members are encouraged to take part in the Advancing Healthcare Awards, which this year includes new awards for excellence in both cancer care and research.
These awards are for all Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHPs) and clinical scientists, and though separate from the SoR’s own Radiography Awards, provide an opportunity for radiographers to be recognised for their contributions.
They aim to identify and share examples of impactful practice throughout the devolved nations, with emphasis on evidence-based, sustainable and transferable accomplishments.
Participating in these awards will also aid AHPs and healthcare scientists to communicate their key roles in health and social care, which reflects their “crucial contribution” to prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, a spokesperson for the awards said.
Richard Evans, CEO of the SoR, said: “The Advancing Healthcare Awards are set up to celebrate great practice and contributions from Allied Health Professionals and Clinical Scientists. Why not consider making a nomination of your team or an individual colleague? It is always good to see radiography winners in this truly multidisciplinary process.”
This year also introduces two new awards to the listing: Excellence in Cancer Care and the Research Excellence Award.
Judges hope to use the cancer care award (sponsored by Macmillan Cancer Support) to highlight outstanding practice in cancer services, across new initiatives which are already showing beneficial outcomes, as well as more longstanding projects that have been thoroughly evaluated, and which could be adopted elsewhere.
The research award (sponsored by National Institute for Health and Care Research) will be granted to an impressive AHP-led research project or initiative which demonstrates passion, dedication and expertise to their profession and contributes to a positive and sustainable research culture.
The closing date is March 16, and judging will be done on May 11. The awards ceremony itself will take place on Friday 19 June 2026, in London.
