The SoR’s Valerie Carr Award now covers the whole of the UK, and applicants are invited to register their interest now in order to access the application form on April 1.
Previously, the award was only available to those in England and Wales. Now, those aspiring to train as Therapeutic Radiographers will be eligible to apply for the Valerie Carr Award regardless of where in the UK they live.
Individuals interested in studying and graduating in pre-registration therapeutic radiography should apply before September 30 in order to potentially receive support through financial challenges that might stand in their way.
The Valerie Carr award was established thanks to a generous legacy dedicated to supporting individuals facing monetary difficulties to study therapeutic radiography.
It pays tuition fees for the course duration for UK residents where recipients are not eligible to have their tuition fees paid by the government. Where recipients are eligible to have their tuition fees paid by the government, the bursary is worth £6k per year.
This discretionary bursary award provides an opportunity to widen participation and further the College of Radiographers' diversity, equality and inclusion strategy.
Each year, the bursary can be awarded to a maximum of five individuals. Only those yet to start their therapeutic radiography programme are eligible.
Programmes upon which students are entitled to support include full-time or part-time pre-registration courses approved by the College of Radiographers and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Interested parties should register their interest as soon as possible to ensure sufficient time before the application deadline to gather references and prepare a supporting statement.
