The SoR is recruiting now for two members of its officer team, one professional officer for education and accreditation as well as a regional officer for the Midlands.

As work continues to increase, with new educational programmes seeking College of Radiographers approval and the healthcare and higher education landscape change, the College is seeking an education and accreditation officer.

Alongside this role, the Society is seeking a regional officer for the Midlands to join the national and regional officers team to represent and support members across the region.

Education and accreditation officer

The post holder will work alongside three others in contributing to the work of the team and enabling the development of education and accreditation work.

This full-time position will provide appropriate, effective, and efficient education and individual accreditation services to education providers and members of the SoR as its fundamental responsibility.

Applicants should be experienced radiography educators and leaders, involved in curriculum design and development and who have led programme approvals.

Expertise in education and leadership, as well as a broad understanding of health and social care policy, is required, as is a working knowledge and understanding of the pre and post-registration and continuing education requirements of the College and its individual accreditation work.

Successful applicants will support the development, dissemination and implementation of policy, strategy and guidance in this area for both the Society and College of Radiographers across the UK. They will also advise on, manage, and quality assure the education and individual accreditation services of the organisation.

Applicants must also be a Health and Care Professions Council-registered radiographer.

Regional officer for Midlands

The SoR is also seeking a positive, knowledgeable, and proactive leader who can represent and support members across the Midlands region, based within a reasonable travelling distance, to recruit, guide and lead a network of local representatives across both NHS and independent healthcare providers.

Regional officer responsibilities include:

  • Advising, supporting, and coaching local representatives in all aspects of their role, ensuring high-quality support for SoR members in their workplaces
  • Playing an active part in the Regional Committee, contributing to its development and work
  • Influencing health policy and outcomes by engaging with employers and a wide range of external stakeholders
  • Contributing to the Society’s policy development and organisational practices, and potentially taking on a national lead area within the national and regional officer team
  • Coordinating and helping deliver recruitment, development, and training programmes for representatives, enhancing engagement and support for members across the region, while contributing to UK-wide initiatives

Travel within the region is required, but online platforms are heavily used for purposes of efficiency and maintaining strong connections with members, representatives and partners.

Applicants should have: Significant experience in trade union activity, ideally within a healthcare environment; demonstrable knowledge and experience of industrial relations, employment law, and regulatory frameworks; strong track record of leading successful campaigns at local, regional, or national level; and the ability to coach, motivate, and lead volunteer representatives within a matrix structure to help deliver an exceptional service to membership.
