The Quality Standards for Imaging team has announced the creation of two new job roles available for applicants.

To support the growth of the Quality Standards for Imaging (QSI) team, which helps oversee the QSI Quality Mark scheme.

Members of the SoR can apply now for the role of interim operations manager (full time contract), and for the role of quality review partner.

QSI Quality Mark

The QSI Quality Mark is for services that have successfully implemented QSI standards in their service and are seeking formal recognition. A review team assesses compliance with the standards and provides feedback on best practices and recommendations for improvement.

These developmental standards underpin the vision of the Royal College of Radiographers and the Society of Radiographers that all providers of imaging services should invest in a continuous quality improvement journey.

The quality review partner’s role is to support growth, and the creation of an interim operations manager role is to alleviate the workload for the QSI manager and make the review operation more effective.

Roles and responsibilities

At least 32 Community Diagnostic Centres are expected to seek QSI accreditation over the next 18 months, and the number of reviews required will ramp up from September 2026 onwards.

The operations manager role is for a fixed term (one full time equivalent, grade four, 12 months full-time contract) and will require two primary tasks:

  • Working with the team and appropriate external expertise to deliver agreed business process improvements and efficiencies relevant primarily to the review and contracting processes
  • Line management of six reporting staff whose work will derive the greatest benefit from business process improvements

The quality review partner role is full-time and permanent, home-based, with the requirement of travelling across the UK. It requires applicants to:

  • Lead expert teams in assessing radiology services across the UK, from independent clinics to major NHS trusts
  • Deliver evidence-based evaluations that make lasting improvements
