Radiographers urged to apply for influential UKIO role

The ROC board is seeking a vice chair who would, in October 2024, become the chair of ROC and ROC-E, succeeding the current chair Pamela Black.

The vice chair is a charity trustee and a director of ROC. The tenure for chair of ROC would initially be for three years with an option to extend for a further three years, subject to ROC board approval.

The Radiology & Oncology Congress board is a charity, the object of the which is to advance education in radiology, oncology and related sciences, particularly by the provision of congresses pertaining to the radiation sciences as applied to medicine and, the dissemination for the public benefit, of the useful results of reports of research arising from such congresses.

Radiology & Oncology Events Ltd is the subsidiary company that oversees the organisation of the United Kingdom Imaging & Oncology Congress (UKIO) which is held annually.

SoR members urged to apply

SoR chief executive Richard Evans urged members to apply for the role: “Although it operates largely in the background, ROC is a critical and important charity for the advancement of education in radiology, oncology and related sciences. This is achieved through the annual UK Imaging and Oncology Congress.

"For the successful candidate, this will be a varied and fulfilling role. I'd like to encourage our members to apply, as this would be a fantastic opportunity for a radiography professional to support and then lead the charity behind UKIO.”
