Members of the SoR can now apply to join the Society’s peer-reviewed scientific journal Radiography as an additional associate editor.
As part of the journal’s Editorial Leadership Team, successful applicants will be responsible for guiding selected manuscripts through the peer review process, and making editorial decisions on behalf of the editor-in-chief.
Candidates work under the guidance of the honorary consulting editor, fellows, editor-in-chief, journal manager and the publisher.
Over the course of the role, associate editors will be expected to ensure high scientific standards for accepted manuscripts, and put forth reasonable effort to ensure published papers and their authors abide by scientific standards for integrity and objectivity, do not infringe on proprietary rights, are not defamatory, and do not cause damage to the reputation of the journal.
Ideal candidates will be able to maintain high standards of editorial practice, be efficient, timely and confidential in their coordination of editing, refereeing, submission for production and communication with authors.
They will also contribute to and/or source guest editorials, podcasts, invited commentaries and review articles from key contacts in their geographical region or subject area.
Applicants should have: a radiography qualification and at least five years of experience working in radiography clinical practice, management, research or education; experience in writing for publication; experience of peer reviewing for at least one journal.
Associate editors typically hold the position for a term of three years, but this may be extended annually by mutual agreement.
Radiography’s publisher, Elsevier, pays associate editors an annual honorarium, plus reasonable expenses incurred in pursuit of the role.
The application deadline is 14 November, 2025, after which the journal will conduct interviews with shortlisted candidates in November and December.
To apply, complete the application form and then send a full CV and cover letter to Dawn Aggett at [email protected] and Dr Jonathan McNulty at [email protected].
