The College of Radiographers is seeking a new chair of its Board of Trustees to help oversee the important work of the college.

As a registered charity and a subsidiary of the Society of Radiographers, the College of Radiographers (CoR) provides advanced education and training in radiography and related disciplines.

The College Board of Trustees (CBoT) oversees the work of the college and trustees help provide strategic leadership and governance, helping to ensure the college meets its aims.

The chair will play a key role in overseeing the board’s activities.

Applications for the voluntary role are currently being accepted until the deadline of 12 noon on 13 October, with interviews for successful applicants taking place on Wednesday 29 October. To apply, prospective candidates must send their CV and a supporting statement to HR lead Shelley Whittington at [email protected].

Candidates can be based anywhere in the UK. Core expectations for the role include leading the board and attending quarterly board meetings, either remotely or in-person.

What does the role of chair consist of?

The successful candidate will preside over meetings and build productive working relationships with trustees, the CEO and the executive team. Preferably, they should have experience in the charity sector, healthcare or regulatory environments, and also be a member of the Society of Radiographers.

The role will consist of helping to shape the organisational strategy of the CoR and closely inspecting its work, which includes strategic planning, budgeting and financial reporting and risk and compliance.

Prior experience as a trustee and business leader would allow the successful applicant to give valuable insights and leadership to the Board and senior management. Previous experience as a Board chair or vice-chair is welcome.

The CoR is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts and encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply, particularly applicants from underrepresented backgrounds and ethnically diverse backgrounds. In addition, the CoR is a Disability Confident committed organisation and is glad to assist any candidate who may need a reasonable adjustment for the recruitment and selection process or assistance with their application.
