Reminder: CoR research funding opportunities

To support you in your research ambitions the College of Radiographers (CoR) has an extensive catalogue of funding opportunities.

From grants to attend conferences, to specific research awards sponsored by our industry partners and doctoral fellowship awards, there really is something for everyone.

If you are interested in applying for research funding, please note the upcoming April deadline for many of the opportunities. If April is too soon, some opportunities also have a second funding round in October. 

Funding Opportunities 

CoR Doctoral Fellowship Grant | Deadline: Monday 4 April 2022

The College awards fellowship grants of up to £25,000 for candidates to undertake research across the following topics:

  • Accuracy and safety
  • Technological innovations
  • Public and patient experience
  • Service and workforce transformation
  • Education and training

Additional to the grant, recipients will submit their findings for publication in Radiography journal and will be invited to present at a high profile CoR conference or event.

CoRIPS Student Research Award | Deadline Monday 4 April and Monday 3 October 2022

Perfect for those who have never undertaken research before, this College of Radiographers Industry Partnership Scheme (CoRIPS) student research award is all about encouraging you to consider a career path in research.

Students are invited to propose a project that can be carried out within 12 months. Applications are welcome from individuals or small groups and if successful you will receive up to £1,000 that can be used as a stipend and/or for relevant equipment and resources.

CoRIPS Research Grant | Deadline: Monday 29 April 2022 and Monday 3 October 2022

This grant has been designed to support radiographers with little or no research experience and fund a collection of small projects or one larger project.

Open to individuals or small groups, the grant can award up to £5,000 for small projects or up to £10,000 for one large project.

AI Radiography Research | Friday 29 April  2022

If you are an experienced researcher or previous CoRIPS awardee, perhaps this special research award could be an excellent fit for you. This grant is for research proposals that focus on radiography and artificial intelligence.

Also open to individuals or small groups, the grant can award up to £5,000 for small projects or up to £10,000 for one large project.

If you are interested in applying, please read the SoR document Artificial Intelligence: Guidance for Clinical Imaging and Therapeutic Radiography Workforce Professionals, as it includes summary recommendations and priorities for future research areas.

Overseas Conference Grant (Legacy Fund) | Friday 29 April and Monday 3 October 2022

Thinking of attending a professional conference outside the UK to present your work? If so, then this grant can help fund your trip.

Up to £1,000 can be awarded to individuals or small groups who are travelling overseas to present an oral paper. Attendance at virtual events can also be considered due to the ongoing pandemic.

When applying for this grant, applicants are asked to submit a 1,500 word proposal outlining their work, expected outcomes and the impact their paper may have on patient care.
