Updated guidelines for the use of imaging in the bowel cancer screening programme

New content in Bowel cancer screening: guidelines for CTC imaging reflects "the experience and changing evidence of the role of imaging and particularly of computed tomography colonography as the main colonic examination."

Training standards developed by the BCSP CTC Radiographer Education Development Group and endorsed by the SCoR have been adopted.

The guidelines explain the use of whole colon imaging as an alternative to a colonoscopy as part of the programme and includes information about:

  • Patient selection
  • Staging
  • CTC surveillance
  • Governance and risk management
  • Consent
  • Audit
