Dr Marc Griffiths has been appointed the pro-vice chancellor and executive dean of the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences at the University of the West of England, Bristol.
The appointment comes after a 24-year career in radiography, which he is ‘proud to promote across the faculty, university and beyond.’
Marc said he is looking forward to increasing collaborative working and being more involved in external policy and strategy development.
His main priorities in the new role include ensuring the student offer is current, relevant and future facing, providing support for students to be research active, as well as outreach and community work
“Throughout my career, I have been fortunate enough to have received excellent mentorship, guidance and support from many people; this has undoubtedly created an appetite for being curious and not being afraid to question the status quo,” Marc said.
“Providing support for others is something that I am particularly proud of and this needs to happen regardless of role or title.”
After graduating from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1995, Marc joined the education sector in 2002. He went on to complete his masters in 2004 and his professional doctorate in 2014.
“Being appointed a fellow of the College of Radiographers was a real honour, as was receiving my principal fellowship from Advance HE” he said.
“I am proud of being a radiographer and will never forget the support and encouragement I have received.”
