The Society of Radiographers is offering a select number of ‘lite’ World Radiography Day (WRD) packs for members, available on request.
WRD 2025 will take place on Saturday 8 November. This date marks the anniversary of Wilhelm Roentgen’s discovery of the x-ray in 1895 and serves to raise awareness of radiography among the general public.
Each year the SoR sends out WRD packs to members who request them. These packs contain posters, colouring sheets, stickers and other materials so members can celebrate the day.
With the original packs now allocated, the SoR has made a number of lite packs available for those who missed out. The lite packs contain posters, colouring sheets, bunting and stickers. Alternatively, members can download resources from the SoR website later this month.

Over the last few years, in the lead-up to WRD, the SoR has held a poster competition where members can submit their entries for a chance to be named a winner. The 2024 edition was based on the theme ‘Radiographers: seeing the unseen’.
This year, the organisation is incorporating artwork from previous years into this year’s pack.
To promote WRD 2024, SoR CEO Richard Evans and then-president Tom Welton took part in interviews with radio stations across the UK and raised awareness of the radiography profession. At the time Mr Welton dubbed it “a bit daunting”, but added that the experience had evoked “quite a nice feeling of being listened to around the country”.
This year, the SoR’s WRD activities are sponsored by Elekta, a company that specialises in precision radiation medicine to treat cancer. To read more about the Society’s involvement with WRD, check out its WRD page here.
