The SoR has officially opened nomination submissions for UK Council seats for Scotland, and for Yorkshire and North Trent.

Members who would like to play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the SoR can apply now for a chance to be elected.

Prospective members must complete an online nomination form and provide details of four SoR members from their region who endorse the nomination, as well as an election address outlining their experience.

'Strong, democratic, and well-governed'

Richard Evans, CEO of the SoR, said: “The diversity of our membership is a huge asset, so we welcome nominations from across the radiotherapy and imaging professions for this role. We encourage nominations from those with a broad range of career backgrounds, ages, ethnicities and disabilities represented.

“The SoR exists for members and is run by members, ensuring we stay strong, democratic and well governed for the long-term success of our union and professional body.”

Members of UK Council become company directors of the society, influencing policy to advance the profession as well as getting a chance to enhance their leadership, decision-making, and strategic thinking skills.

Elected members receive an induction, full training, and will be mentored by a more experienced council member during their tenure.

Elections and membership

Successful applicants are also expected to attend council meetings and actively participate in discussions, whether in person or virtually.

Nominations are open from 24 September until 23 October this year.

To be eligible, applicants should be a full SoR member of good standing in the region to which they are seeking council membership. If more than one nomination is received, a ballot will be organised in November, allowing eligible region members to vote. If elected, members will serve for a term of three years, with the option to stand for two additional terms.

This vote’s independent scrutineer will be Civica Election Services.
