Members of the Society of Radiographers are invited to sign up for a free in-person workshop designed around the National Incident Learning System.
The National Incident Learning System is designed to prioritise patient safety by acting as a framework for reporting, analysing and learning from incidents.
Delivered by the UK Health Security Agency’s Medical Exposures Group (MEG), the workshop will take attendees through how to improve patient safety by engaging with the National Incident Learning System. The system takes the form of a reporting network overseen by MEG and refers to clinical imaging, MRI and nuclear medicine.
The workshop will take place at the MacDonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham from 9.30am to 4pm on Tuesday 7 July. Only attendees with confirmed places will be admitted to the workshop on the day.
What does the workshop programme look like?
Radiographers from across the profession are encouraged to attend the workshop. This includes clinical scientists, service managers and quality assurance professionals, as well as any staff members involved in reporting or analysing.
The programme schedule is split into four sessions:
- Incident investigation and safety culture
- Local incident analysis and learning
- Enhancing local reporting quality
- Stakeholder engagement and collaboration
Other sessions include hands-on practical workshops and discussions on the local application of coding. Departments that wish to take part in the National Incident Learning System must locally apply the national taxonomy coding to local incident and near-miss data.
The programme promises to be highly interactive and offer opportunities to network and collaborate with peers. Attendees will mix with colleagues who have different experiences and perspectives, and benefit from sharing their own outlooks as well.
