The SoR has announced the regional winners of the Rep of the Year awards, ahead of this year’s Annual Delegates Conference, where winners will receive their award.

This year, the Annual Delegates Conference (ADC), taking place from 27-29 April, will be livestreamed, and members will have access to on-demand recordings after the event to improve accessibility for all.

Regional winners of Rep of the Year have been announced in advance of the event, but the overall Rep of the Year winner will be announced during the Gala Dinner at the conference.

Attendance gives members the chance to engage with professional practice and industrial relations matters, as well as to present motions to the conference.

Going above and beyond

Taking place at Novotel London West, ADC brings together up to 300 attendees, including regional representatives, regional and national officers, and UK Council, to address current issues within the radiography profession or matters of personal importance to members.

Each region and country can propose motions and send a delegation to the conference. Motions can be about any topic, and those selected for ADC by the Delegate Conference Committee (DCC) will then be debated and voted on by those at the conference.

Rep of the Year will be celebrated as part of the Gala Dinner on Tuesday night (28 April), highlighting representatives from around the country who have gone above and beyond in their contributions to the profession and the workforce.

Here are the regional winners of the Rep of the Year awards this year:

  • London: Sean Wilson, deputy superintendent radiographer in interventional radiology at St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group
  • Midlands: Jamie Sylvester, chief AHP fellow, deputy superintendent radiographer and advanced practitioner radiographer at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust
  • North West: Beth Middleton, diagnostic radiographer at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre
  • Northern: Louise Butterfield-Watson, CT radiographer
  • Northern Ireland: Karen Hamilton, clinical specialist radiographer at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust
  • Scotland: Holly Morgan, senior radiographer at Victoria Hospital NHS Fife
  • South East: Lisa Weeks, MRI superintendent radiographer at Queen Victoria Hospital
  • South West: Catrin Pink, senior radiographer at Great Western Hospital
  • Yorkshire and North Trent: Tracy Graham, section lead therapeutic radiographer at Weston Park Cancer Centre, Sheffield

Overall Rep of the Year will be announced at the conference itself. The award honours an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession as an accredited SoR Health and Safety, Industrial Relations, or Union Learning representative.

Sign-up and registration

Sign-ups for in-person attendance have now closed, but members can still sign up for virtual attendance to ADC online.

Doing so will allow members to watch the event livestream and recorded content, learn the outcome of motions as they are voted on, and access the SoR’s database of past motions.

Those who have previously submitted an expression of interest to attend ADC, regardless of success, will not need to register for virtual attendance and instead have already received access to the app.
