An online careers resource featuring diagnostic and therapeutic radiographers, launched by Health Education England, aims to raise awareness of the many opportunities for progression that are available to allied health professionals.

A Universe of Opportunities for Your AHP Career is available on the e-Learning for Healthcare website and focuses on the range of development opportunities open to AHPs, covering eight potential areas for career progression.

AHPs taking different career journeys from across various disciplines, including radiography, appear on film and share what has helped, what barriers they have overcome, and what they enjoy most about their work.

Diagnostic radiographerPenny Owens and therapeutic radiographer, Kevin Sullivan, talk about their varied career journeys and experiences in the Management & Leadership themed pages; Michaela Woodhouse, diagnostic radiographer speaks about her six month fellowship in South Africa; and therapeutic radiographer, Laura Charlesworth, talks about her role in public health.

“As AHPs, we need to recognise our own incredibly valuable transferable skills," Laura Hargreaves, AHP clinical fellow at HEE, said.

"There’s no right or wrong career path and we are fortunate to have so many options. The careers resource is designed to help AHPs decide what’s right for them and help them create those opportunities," she added.
