Colleagues of Dee Gallagher, a radiographer from the Jarvis Breast Screening Centre, Guildford celebrated her distinguished 42-year career as she bid farewell to the profession to retire.

Dee has been an integral part of the team at the Jarvis, where she’s been a mammographer for 18 years. She was part of the team that formalised mammography training with colleagues Maureen Yeowell and Patty Pearce.

She has supported the education department in her role as practice educator and trained many mammographers, as well as assistant practitioners.

For the next phase of her life Dee plans to continue travelling abroad; Africa has always been her favourite destination. She also plans to share her knowledge and expertise with countries developing their mammography skills.

Yasmeen Malik, education manager at the Jarvis, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Dee for all the support she has provided to students on the mammography programmes, as well as assistant practitioner training programmes over the years.

“She has been a valuable member of the team providing valuable clinical expertise and knowledge.”
