The European Society of Radiology (ESR) has announced its first call for abstracts, as well as inviting applications for its ‘Invest in the Youth’ and ‘Shape your Skills’ support programmes, ahead of the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2020 event which will be held in Vienna next year.

Abstract submissions for all presentations, including research and student oral presentations, as well as posters is now open and the deadline date for submissions is 10 October 2019. Full details, category information and guides for authors are available to download from the ECR website.

Applications are also invited for the Shape your Skills programme, designed to support the continuing professional development of radiographers. Successful applicants are granted free registration to the congress and an accommodation voucher. To qualify, you must be a member of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), have submitted an abstract to ECR 2020 and be willing to give an oral presentation. More details about the programme and how to apply can be found here.

The Invest in the Youth programme for trainees is also now open for applications. The programme supports 1000 young professionals in training by giving them free registration for ECR and an accommodation voucher. For applications details visit the website.

The theme of the Congress, which will be held in March 2020 is ‘A Clear Vision for Radiology’ and the radiography programme is expected to form a substantial portion of the event, with dedicated special focus sessions for radiographers. The organisers say that the radiographers’ programme has grown considerably over recent years and that ECR has now become one of the largest international gatherings of radiographers.

ECR 2020 promises a diverse programme, although artificial intelligence and machine learning is expected to be represented substantially, and one of the ECR 2020 Academies will be dedicated to artificial intelligence.
